Rattler Roundup Week 1: Oklahoma City, OK
The PBR Camping World Team Series got off to an electric start in Oklahoma City last weekend. Flint Rasmussen and Matt West spearheaded coverage of Wildcatter Days live on Merit Street Media. Rasmussen said it was the loudest he had ever heard it in Oklahoma City throughout the “best opening night in league history,” which brought record-breaking crowds to the Paycom Center for the season opener.
Game 1 vs. Oklahoma Wildcatters
Night 1 didn’t go quite according to plan for the Rattlers, falling to the hometown Oklahoma Wildcatters. It stung a little, sure, but what fun would a rivalry be without a little redemption arc? Call it “doing our part” in welcoming J.B. Mauney and the Oklahoma Wildcatters to the team series…
Home court advantage or beginner’s luck? At any rate, we can’t deny that the Wildcatter’s debut was a game well-played. We’ll be hungry for revenge come our next faceoff.
Game 2 vs. Missouri Thunder
Night 2 the Rattlers were hungry for a rebound and ready to strike back. Qualified rides from three Rattlers helped the boys bounce back and clinch a solid-scoring victory over the Missouri Thunder.
Newcomer Marcelo Procopio Periera was the first rider to get Texas up on the board, clinching the first qualified Rattler ride of the season with 84.25 points aboard Cutting Edges Bandit. Joao Ricardo Vieira showed up to play in characteristic fashion with a flashy 88.25-point-ride aboard Peterbilt, and Brady Fielder secured the team’s high-marked ride of the weekend, going for 88.75 points with the help of Dark Thoughts in what Flint Rasmussen called the “matchup of the game.”
The Ariat Texas Rattlers are currently ranked sixth, with plenty of time to climb the ranks to number one throughout the season ahead. The next installment of the Camping World Team Series will be held July 26-28 at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. The Rattlers are slated to face off against the Florida Freedom, Arizona Ridge Riders, and Nashville Stampede.
