Rattler Roundup: Kansas City 2024

Rattler Roundup – Kansas City, MO

Your Ariat Texas Rattlers laid down the law in Kansas City last weekend. With another win against the Florida Freedom on Saturday and a colossal victory over the number-one Carolina Cowboys on Sunday, the Rattlers wrapped up Outlaw Days as the only undefeated team of the weekend. Everybody brought their A-Game all weekend long, racking in the dough alongside the dubs: By the time the arena dust settled, a total of nine qualified rides from Texas shook out to another $7200 secured for Permian Basin youth charities in partnership with Chevron’s $800 for 8 program.

The reigning world champs now sit just two slots from the top at 3rd overall, with a season record of 9-9. Here’s your look at What Went Down in Kansas City, as well as What’s New and What’s Next for the Rattlers in the coming couple of weeks.

What Went Down

Outlaw Days Recap

Game 1: Florida Freedom

The Rattlers picked up another victory over Florida in their opening game of the weekend, logging a total of four qualified rides to Florida’s two. Daniel Keeping, Brady Fielder, and Claudio Montanha Jr. scooped the first three scores of the night, posting numbers to the tune of 88, 88, and 88.25 aboard Whiplash, Barbarosa, and Mr. Wilson respectively. Following Florida’s first qualified ride of the night, João Ricardo Vieira sealed the deal with an 87.75-point-ride aboard No Socks to put Florida solidly out of the evening’s running. (Final 352 : 176.25)

Game 2: Carolina Cowboys

Texas carried the momentum from their win against the Freedom into their second matchup of the weekend, besting the number one Carolina Cowboys 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Things heated up early, with Brady Fielder going for 87.5 points aboard Magic Fire to kick off the game. Cooper Davis was quick to respond for the Cowboys, but it wasn’t long before Daniel Keeping bumped the Rattlers back into the lead with his own 87.5-point-ride aboard Wooderson. Derek Kolbaba failed to follow suit for Carolina, allowing Claudio Montanha Jr. to widen Texas’ lead by 87.75 points after covering Cliffhanger. João Ricardo Vieira was the next rider to make the whistle, reeling in another 84.5 points for the Rattlers aboard Rowdy that even Sage Kimzey’s closing qualified ride was not enough to catch up to. (Final 357.25 : 264.25)

What’s New

Fielder on Fire: Brady Breaks Into #5 Slot in MVP Standings

Brady Fielder has quickly become a fan favorite this season – and for good reason. His consistency as the Rattlers’ opening rider has helped start Texas off on the right foot nearly every game. Week after week, the Australian cowboy has posted big-time scores that have played a big-time role in bringing the defending world champs back into the running for the 2024 PBR Teams title.

His hard work is paying off personally, too. Following a perfect performance in Kansas City (including a massive shootout round victory of 91.25-points aboard Magic Hunter) the 24-year-old cowboy has risen to the number 5 overall spot in the 2024 PBR Team Series MVP Standings. There’s still a lot of season left to go, and we are willing to bet that this is just the beginning of Brady’s success.

Get to know him a little better here, with the first installment of our ‘Riders of the Texas Rattlers’ web series.
